Barclays transferring money out but not paying landlord

My partner pays the rent from his bank account to our private letting agency. He says in the past 6 months 3 of the payments have left his bank account and not been received. All my partner get when he phones is that it is under investigation but as you can imagine this is a lot of money. Luckily our landlord is a family friend and is happy with us paying an increased amount but I'm unhappy with Barclays lack of help. I am pregnant and have a young child o do not want to end up without a home. I have seen the statement with the missing payments. Any advice would help thanks x

Formal complaint in writing.

so what happened after the first missing payment? nothing? unusual for a letting agency! and then sent it a 2nd and 3rd time with it not turning up? something does not add up.
You also have said "not paying landlord" but then say you pay the letting agency. Which is it?0 -
1 The sort code or account number is wrong.
2 The numbers may have been correct but the letting agency moved banks or changed account numbers.
3 If 1 above the money would have bounced back to OP's account
4 The letting agency is not forwarding the rent.
5 The money has not left the OP's account for whatever reason.
6 The letting agency are not telling the truth or their accounting system is rubbish in that they cannot account for the monies paid into their accounts.
It has to be one of the above.0 -

Good info above from others.
The first thing to do is to verify that the bank details being used are correct. Are they?
Then check the statements to ensure money has left the account (and also not been returned). A standing order may go unpaid if the balance is insufficient.0 -
Surely if there was an error with the information - like sort code or account number - then none of the payments would get through, but it seems that half of them did.0

I wonder if the LA has used CASS to switch to a new bank and there's some sort of glitch in the forwarding process between the old and new bank.0

I am a landlord and on more than one occasion I have not received rent because the tenant had sent it to the agent but with no reference, so the money had sat in the agents account unallocated until they did an internal investigation as to why I hadn't received my rentIt may sometimes seem like I can't spell, I can, I just can't type0

Is it paid by Standing Order or by Faster Payments or by some other method? Alternatives to what happened will depend on the method used.0
