Praise for Tescos

Hi,
Popped into Tescos today, where I noticed that they were selling Chilli Beef and sweet and sour chicken for £3-00 combined so effectively half-price for each. I paid for both items and noticed there was no reduction. I went to customer services, who eventually honoured the price.
Thanks Tescos.

Have they dropped their double the difference guarantee?0 -

TBH, I'm not sure Tesco deserve any praise for this.
They overcharged so should have put it right - immediately and without quibbling..
I'm not sure what the OP means by:Hi,

I'd have hot-trotted back to the shelf to check I was right then straight back to CS to tell them I'd been overcharged.
I always go back to the shelf with them so they can't change the label.
Back to CS, they give me the difference in price.
"Excuse me, shouldn't it be double the overcharge?"
TBH, our Tesco Extra has really improved their shelf edge labelling so it's ages since I had to go to CS.
When it first opened, I was on first name terms with all the CS staff. In fact, I was expecting an invite to their Christmas bash. :rotfl:
I'm not sure Tesco have covered themselves in glory here.0 -
Tesco stopped DTD many months ago. Meal yesterday was delicious. Hope tonight's will be as good but who cares when it is half price ?0

You are wrong.
Tesco stores still operate the overcharge policy, and this is quoted here, "In the unlikely event that we charge you more than what is advertised on the shelf edge or on the product, please visit our Customer Service Desk with your receipt for a double the difference refund".
Granted CS staff occasionally need 'reminding', but you were entitled to the DTD wether in an Extra, Metro or Express.0 -
I wasn't expecting, but was given, double the difference, just before Christmas.
I was charged full for two items which were advertised as BOGOF but, apparently, the offer ended a few days before, so didn't register at the till. Staff had left up the prominent old price card, so the offer was honoured.0 -

I've heard from a couple of different Tesco staff that the store managers actively tell them to try and avoid the DTD wherever possible as it messes up their figures. Bad figures mean lower bonuses for the store managers0 -

So the OP wasn't treated so well by Tesco after all - especially after only 'eventually' honouring the price.0
