My aunt had one of these -

(other brands available - the link is just to show what I mean).
She loved it as it got her right down into the bath and felt very comfortable.0 -
My friend had her dividing wall knocked down between her upstairs toilet and bathroom to make it one room. As her husband has trouble with his hips and knees, the fitter lowered her bath to make it easier for him to get in and out. Unsure how he did this, but I remember her telling me he had lowered it.0

Or an electric bath lift (runs on rechargeable batteries) something like this.

She was offered the equivalent of this available at the time but it left her sitting up out of the water, several inches of the bottom of the bath.
This version goes much lower and would be a good alternative to the bath cushion.0 -
Another voice to go against the baths with a door.
I have a disability and can't get in/out a bath. I tried one and spent a long time sat cold as it filled, followed by cooling down an dstiffening up as it emptied for me to get out. I know some have seats but its still pretty hard to stand up.
I have tried various bath lifts and seats and the one i liked best was an inflating cushion.. you inflate and fill your bath, sit on it (but still have to lift legs over bath side) then deflate to be sat flat in bath. Reverse to come out but you need some leg strength to stay on the cushion without being tipped off.
I hung on to my bath for as long as i possibly could.. an over bath shower with a 'bath board' seat helps for showering but you still have flexibility of bath.
I know yu want to future proof.. and think its a kind thought but from my personal experience I didn't want to go full on adapted until it was absolutely necessary. So I think I'd be looking at various grab rails, tap bars and handles and letting them choose.0
