Depends on if it's a big amount etc. If it's a couple of quid it might cost them more in time to sort out depending how bureaucratically they're run.

I once inadvertently paid cheap pillow price from $big_bed_store and was handed one that was quite expensive, which I found out at home. Their fault for giving me the expensive one but phoned them to fess up anyway. The call centre person was taken aback at the honesty and after about half an hour on hold figuring out what to do, managed to put me through to the store, who put me on hold for another 20 minutes and pretty much made me feel like a pain in the backside for telling them because then they'd have paperwork to do, but said they'd come and exchange it on their next delivery. They never did.
  • Most stores that offer to honour a refund without a receipt, do so under the condition that they will refund the product at the current price that is displayed,
this means that If you paid 59.99 for a product and happened to return it when the price is at 39.99, they would offer you the value of 39.99.
In my honest opinion this should work both ways so the fact that you paid less for a product and returned it at a time when the product is at higher value, they credited the higher/current value of the product.
I would not feel guilty about keeping and spending the extra.:D
  • There are no rules where sales are concerned. Forget it.
