Anyway to transfer NCD between brothers?

DS1 (age 25) owns a car and has 7 years NCD, DS2 (age 22) is a named driver on the insurance policy.
Circumstances have changed recently and DS1 rarely drives the car, in fact the car remains at home (ie my house) and DS1 has moved out. DS2 now uses the car to commute to work. Insurer informed and agreed to make DS2 the main driver and include commuting on policy until renewal (for a premium).
DS2 will be getting his own car shortly and DS1's car sold. DS2 only has been covered until now as a named driver and hasn't any NCD in his own name.
Is there any way of utilising the NCD that DS1 has built up for DS2? Current insurer talks of acknowledging named drivers no claims when they take their own policy with them, but that obviously restricts to that insurer.
(DS1 has no intention of owning a car for the next few years.)

Unlikely.
But before buying the policy with the named driver ncd he should see whether a local broker (not Swinton) can get any better introductory discount.0 -
The NCD belongs to DS1. BUT - you might be able to negotiate an introductory discount for DS2 based on the fact that he hasn't (I assume) had any accidents whilst driving DS1's car.
I know they will do this where, say, a wife has been driving on her husband's policy but then buys a car of her own. Whether they would do it when it's two brothers I don't know - but it would certainly be worth asking the question. They will need DS1 to confirm in writing that there have been no claims on the policy. No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -

They can see he has had no claims as he has been insured with the same company for years. (multi car policy)
Thought this may be the case, bit of a shame as we have 7 years NCD that can't be used.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. He wouldn't have to go with the same company - so a new company would require confirmation in writing. No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0

If we put the new car in DS1's name, with the policy in DS1's name but with DS2 as the main driver (as it is at present) that would presumably keep the NCD going. Not sure if the insurer will allow that to continue past renewal or not.
Would the fact that there are potentially 3 cars in the household that were on a multi car policy, so have 3 NCDs built up, allow the 3 NCDs to be retained?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Be careful, if you argue that the other son was a major user of the car they might not be happy that he was down as a named driver.0
