Android smartphone time out message

Within the last week, my Moto android smartphone has started to periodically display the message "Connection has timed out.....please check the network!"
I am connected to the internet perfectly happily and functionality is not affected, it's just that this message appears roughly every minute and it's really annoying. I don't get the same message when using an android tablet in the same location at the same time.
Why is this happening and how do I fix it please?

WiFi - both home & work. My phone displays the message but my tablet used in the same locations does not.0
