No insurer deals with any claim from their policyholder (irrespective of blame) with a tpft policy!

    I stand corrected

  • Thanks for answers guys.

Its to late for me to go with my insurance since theres already been costs involved for the hire car etc...

I gave them a call today again. Same abswer. They are trying but the other side makes it hard to cooperate. Was told some of these cases take long to settle.

    .
There was never a time when you could "go with your insurance"

As discussed above, with the third party/fire/theft insurance you have you have no cover for damage to your own car!

It does take a long time to settle claims (usually more time involved with multiple shunts like this), but you can still get a replacement car again (if you need one) until the settlement comes through

Is it normal they took my car away and keep it hostage?

I have asked them 5 times over the last 6 weeks to send my car back to me. Their reply is that they need to contact their other team for approval. Its like going in circles.

    Is that normal?

Are you wanting to get your car back and cancel your claim?

This won't be straightforward! (Assuming the car is available, you would have to pay for the hire car etc)

No, i want to continue with the claim. But let them keep the salvage price which i was told is 350£ and they can send me the my car back.

Did you ever agree to pay for the salvage though?
