Parking ticket appeal
We just received a parking ticket today Sunday for parking appropriately 30 mins on yellow lines to the rear of a shop we had just been to to return a heavy item whilst my disabled daughter and OH went to get something else in store. We parked at 3pm on a quiet street where its a dead end, at no time does it cause an obstruction and the correct blue badge and time piece is shown
I note that the single yellow line on the kerb says there is a restriction, it said on the sign "no loading"
There was no disabled parking place near by and the nearest one was full, we couldn't carry the heavy item from there as OH has asthma and on top of that my daughter cant walk far.
I am not sure if we can appeal due to the "no loading sign" I didnt see that and often see vehicles parked in that place, I thought we were able to park on yellow lines if it didn't cause a obstruction.
The fine is £30 or £60 after 14 days

Any help would be appreciated.

Prepare yourself for the usual: "Well, you got what you deserved, you shouldn't have parked there. I couldn't have got my lorry through there if I'd needed to; you should have your licence automatically endorsed with 12 points, a £15000 fine and the car crushed."
When you've finished ignoring those, I'm not sure what grounds for appeal you have. I'm not familiar with the terms and conditions of the blue badge. It's always worth writing and explaining the circumstances; the worst they can say is "no", and you might get someone sympathetic. I frequently see vehicles parked on double yellow lines with a blue badge displayed, and I've never seen one ticketed. However, they might just be lucky for all I know.
Check that the ticket has been correctly issued (time, date, location, vehicle details etc). Assuming that's all in order, I think you'll probably be out of luck, sorry. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Looks like the loading retriction was the problem,
The concessions apply to on-street parking and include free use of parking meters and pay-and-display bays. Badge holders may also be exempt from limits on parking times imposed on others and can park for up to three hours on single yellow lines as long as they are not causing an obstruction (except where there is a ban on loading or unloading or other restrictions).
This was taken from the Directgov website HERE, maybe if you explain the situation to the Police or whoever issued the ticket they may show some sympathy.0 -

Often there will be yellow ‘blips’ on the kerb. These warn that there is a loading restriction. Two ‘blips’mean no loading ‘at any time’. One ‘blip’ means that loading is restricted at certain times, as shown on a white plate. Even Blue Badge holders with badges and time clocks are not allowed to park where there are loading restrictions in force.

Thanks yes I looking at the parking appeals site. We had no choice to park as we couldn't lifted the item from nearest blue badge space as two are about 5 mins walk away and would have to cross two busy roads even on a Sunday
My daughter who was with me cant walk far and has a stick and has poor balance, she doesnt like shopping because of the crowds so she wanted to come with us today as it was quiet
I thought we were allowed to park on yellow lines as it didn't cause an obstruction, looks like that advice was wrong, funny thing is when I read the some weeks back I was in the opinion that you couldn't park at all even with a blue badge I often see people do this though0 -
Ticket looks like it is correct, it was issued at 3.04 4 minutes after we left the car, no one was around at that time giving tickets as I said its a quiet street, no through traffic, dead end
Ticket was issued by the council
There's a bit on the ticket that cant be read properly I cant make out what it says other than
"Parking xx xxxxxxx xxxxxxxx (not sure how many x's there as its printed over some other writing, it appeals that there's some lot of writing and then the machine prints in blank spaces) in a restricted street when a waiting or load/unloading restrictions are in force"
The loading sign is quiet high up about 8ft certainly not an eye view if thats any help0
