Can U Open A Ebay Selling Account With A Prepaid Card?

Hi Guys, my sister just phoned me and asked me this (as she thinks i'm some kind of Ebay expert:rolleyes: ) but even i've got to scratch my head at this one.

She wants to start selling a few bits & pieces on Ebay - but doesn't have a normal debit or credit card, which Ebay specify. (She had a load of debts in the past so now doesn't own any of these).

But she has just applied for one of these Pre-paid Mastercard Cards where you top it up to make purchases over the net etc.

Has anyone got one of these cards or know if it can be used to open an Ebay selling account?

Thanks in advance, for any replies.

  • Sorry no idea but if she opens the account and tries to enter the Mastercard details it would tell her if it is acceptable or not. I think ebay would only be bothered about getting their fees paid.

She may actually have a bigger problem ..earlier this year the rules were changed so that newly registered sellers must have a paypal account. No paypal account means no selling account. It is usually harder to get a paypal account than it is to get an ebay account.

Do you happen to have a link to one of these posts at all?

I have a 'Quidity' prepaid card and I have managed to sign up for an ebay account.

I think you need to have funds on the card though. The first time I tried to register for a sellers account it didn't accept the card, but after I loaded some money on, it worked fine.

I also have a paypal account but I've not validated it.
:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j
