Tesco Credit Card Question.

Options
Hi, am looking for a new reward credit card and have a question about this one....am I right in assuming that to earn a clubcard point on purchases outside Tesco it means I only earn a point for each transaction (individual) that is over £8 and it doesn't mean that if I buy something in a shop for £3 and then something in another shop for £5 that =1 clubcard point. Me and the partner use our card for all our spend and that means we have lots of purchases for low value transactions so I want to maximise what rewards we could earn. If I am right about this card we could miss out on a lot of earning potential over the course of a year with our low level spending. Any help would be appreciated.

You are right about the card - it's per transaction. There are much better alternatives to that card.
  • From the Tesco website............

You earn 1 Clubcard point for every £4 spent (£4 minimum) in Tesco and 1 point for every £8 spent (£8 minimum) outside Tesco in each purchase transaction.

This would seem to confirm that any spending outside Tesco for less than £8 will not earn a clubcard point

That's correct, it used to be for every £4.00 but it was changed to every £8.00.
Moreover, it's only on purchase transactions - remember some people expecting it on balance transfers as well!
I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard
  • Thanks, I did think that...but thought I'd ask the question to get it confirmed. Will look elsewhere.

For anyone else wondering about Tesco Bank-if you swipe the card as a Clubcard and use another card i.e. Debit card instead of earning 1 point per £2 spent you earn 1 point per £1 spent.
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.

Only on Fuel. On everything else you get the standard rate (normally 1 point per £).
