Using barclaycard platinum abroad

    I've just applied for one on Martin's recommendation, and the blurb states that all transactions abroad incur a 2.99% transaction fee!

    They will do. AFTER the promotional rate expires in 2018 or 2022, depending which offer you signed up to.

    Cash withdrawn in Spain today gave a rate of 1.09€ = £1. The N&P card we were hoping to replace this with gave 1.12€ - £1.

    Sounds like the initial transaction reporting is including the fee.

    Check again on Tuesday to see how it finally posts to your account.

    Yes, it is in the pending transactions tab, so will hopefully shift a bit (favourable) once finalised.

    Well, pending now a completed transaction and you were correct PeacefulWaters. Barclaycard has now given a 1.1284 = £1. N&P have 1.12839!!!!

    Not much in it. Looks like a good card to be using, I give it the thumbs up :)
