Should i continue to request more information from Aer Lingus?

On my way to Dublin 2 weeks ago, I mistakenly left my hand baggage behind at the WH smith store in Heathrow. I was running late to catch my flight so I informed the Aer Lingus ground crew at the boarding gate of this and they promised to collect the baggage and forward it to my address in Dublin. I have confirmation in writing from WH smith that my baggage was indeed collected by Aer Lingus staff. The cabin crew, on receiving a call from the ground crew, advised me to leave my details at their desks in Dublin. Unfortunately, I received no assistance from Dublin and it was the begining of my problems with Aer Lingus I have been in touch with Aer Lingus everyday for the last two weeks but only got a reply today, telling me that they do not have my baggage. Their staff at Heathrow also do not have my baggage.
Can anyone help me? What do you suggest I do?

I would suggest you write a letter for attention of John Sharman Chairman of Aer Lingus at their Dublin Airport Head Office and give the details of your flight number, description of the bag and the story so far. Sounds like you have been given the run around. If you can establish from WHSmith if they had a signature , better still ,so at least you could do a paper trail so far. They may consider that they were doing you a favour however the agreement was made so they should have seen it through IMHO.

    Good luck
  • Thanks very much, Lady E.
    I'll do as advised.
