Not covered

Our shower has leaked so now have water stains and a whole in the hall ceiling that is under the shower. The insurance company say we are not covered as they put it down to sealant issues (even though they haven't seen shower) we keep getting it resealed but then it leaks again

I understand showers aren't covered in my insurance but what about the ceiling damage? Surely that is?

We're now contemplating having whole new shower and new tiles then ceiling repaired is it a anger all builder I need for this work?

Comments

  • if the ceiling is caused by negligence or accidental damage?
Was the sealant damaged and could have been replaced before the leak? There was a similar thread ages ago.

It sounds like whoever you were getting to reseal your shower has not done a good job. I think you should be asking them to cover the cost as it is their poor work that has caused this problem.

You could try posting your question on the insurance board on here, but I suspect as this was a known issue that you had tried to fix but wasn't fixed then the insurance company are not going to be interested.
