Perhaps, a bit like Malaga, Puerto Banus, Benidorm, etc. etc. doesn't mean Spain is like Essex! And like many other places, the ex-pats all hang out in a handful of bars and clubs, not take over the whole city.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Dubai is an amazing place to visit but I would suggest visiting in the winter. We visited in November and it was still scorching hot in the 40s!!
There are two main parts in Dubai. Jumeirah, which is the westernised part of the emirate; and Deira, which is kind of like the old town. Jumeirah, is where all the expats and celebs go, where everything looks very artificial and costs an arm and leg. Whereas Deira, you will get to experience how the real locals live and trade.
Just remember they practice Sharia law, so a few things to bear in mind otherwise you will get yourself locked up. No signs of affection in public.... No alcohol in public except hotels...... Women need to cover up so no cleavage flashing or arms showing.....
If you are looking for a nice beach to chill then I would suggest booking at a nearby emirate such as Ajman, which is less crowded and cost much less than Dubai. You can still visit Dubai by taking a taxi, which is only 30minute ride.0 -
No arms showing? That's a new one on me.
Ajman is a dry state isn't it?travelover0 -

Ajman is in the Persian Gulf0 -
I don't remember it being that strict.
This applies to women only. I mean you won't be arrested for baring your arms, however the locals will find this offensive and may ask you to cover up.
We were eating in a restaurant one time and we noticed that another family asked to be relocated somewhere else because someone from another table was wearing a rather short dress.0
