Refund of Currys Whatever Happens Care Plan

Hello
For many years now I have been putting money into a Curry's Whatever Happens Care Plan for my Laptop. Initially this was to secure my laptop in case of repair but as the laptop got older I thought this would help me recover money under the plan should the laptop fail to work.
Recently I have contacted Currys KNOWHOW team about my Laptop since the battery would no longer hold charge and an array of other performance related issues. During the discussion I was told that although replacement of the clock battery inside the laptop would be covered if it needed replacing (similar to watch battery size), the laptops battery itself is not covered under the plan.
Up to this point I would have assumed it would have been covered as it is one of the more key aspects of a laptop.
The laptop is currently in for repair but I was wondering if I have any grounds for requesting a refund from Currys for money spent on a "whatever happens" plan which doesn't cover key aspects fundamental to a laptop.
Regards
Rob

Once I spoke to them I did consult the T&C's and noticed that "built in batteries" are not covered.
I find it interesting that even though the clock battery is "built" in they are willing to replace that.
Do they only consider it built in if it is more expensive to replace?
Also the term "built in" could be considered misleading since laptop batteries are normally user replaceable compared to other internal batteries which would mean stripping it apart.
Would laptop batteries not be considered as such. I remember some old laptops used to have batteries that just clicked out of place..0 -
They would be considered consumables.0

thanks for clarifying this, I thought I was probably clutching at straws0

The clock battery is almost certainly a variant of the CR2032 or similar and cost a couple of quid and are easily available. A laptop battery itself will simply die over time after repeat charges, you might do better going on ebay and looking for a replacement battery as it'll be a lot easier.
You could also get Currys or an IT person to clean up the laptop, strip out all the junk and crud that accumulates over time and you might get a bit of a boost but software moves on and becomes more demanding and the laptop spec doesn't meet it, hence performance issuesSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
