I think it is a case of look elsewhere to find a more understanding insurer. Either way it will have to be a new policy.0

Many years ago my oh had to stop driving, I had been the main driver for manyou years. The cooperative just changed everything over to me.
No charge. It was the cooperativemake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
The person who has the insurance doesn't have to drive. It's quite common for a person with a disability to have insurance while the car is only driven by carers for instance.
I know an instance like the OPs where the person who lost their licence continues to insure the car with their spouse as the main driver. Insurance were happy with that arrangement. We never thought of trying to see if it would be cheaper transferring the insurance into her name.0 -
So does that mean you can only swap NCB for a medical reason?
In my experience, no. A good broker should be able to arrange this for you providing you've both been named on the policy with no claims regardless of the circumstances.
Of course, there will still be some companies who aren't quite as accommodating.0 -

I never thought of that as an option. Interesting. Thanks!0
