I don't know how anyone can answer that question given we don't know whether you're on a fixed or variable service, what miles have you done, when was the last service, what miles have you done since that service, etc, etc.

It's not on a plan I will just get it serviced when the car tells me it needs doing.

I do a lot of miles like 40k plus a year.

I use to have a mondeo and it needed servicing ever 12k mile.

Of course it's on a "plan". It's either a fixed service or variable. From your description it sounds like you're on the variable service plan where it's not unheard of to do 20K plus between services. It all depend upon a lot of factors including your driving style. None of us has a crystal ball so your guess will be as good as anyone here, and as stated above you really need to read you handbook.

If you prefer to have it on a fixed service schedule then there's nothing to stop you from doing so.

Do you plan on keeping the car long term? If so consider some interim oil and filter changes between services, not expensive and will minimise wear on the engine and turbo. Easy to do yourself with minimal tools.

20K was the upper limit on my Octavia (mk1 VRS). In practice it wouldn't do more than 17k between services.

More importantly, you need to make sure you know what it's on. If you are relying on the service indicator and it's set to variable service intervals, but the garage is giving it a "fixed mileage" service, they won't be using the proper long life oils.

The petrolheads will tell you that variable service intervals will shorten the life of the engine and you should change the oil more often, but my Octavia made it to 150,000 miles with no issues related to the service interval. I believe it's still going strong down in Chatham.
