Lost Baggage

I used my mastercard to pay for a flight between Rio de Janeiro in brazil and Buenos Aires in Argentina. They lost my baggage.
I have been seeking compensation, but it is difficult dealing with Brazilian airline and outside the UK
I requested a chargeback for breach of contract, but my card provided refused saying "no chargeback rights for lost baggage"
is that correct??

what does your travel insurer say.0

Your credit card provider can't do a chargeback for lost baggage. The airline T&Cs and usually the Montreal Convention covers for lost baggage. Also your travel insurance. It does depend though on whether it's actually lost, or just delayed?0

I don't believe it's "lost"travelover0

on 8/1/17 me and my wife treated ourselves foir Xmas and flew back from Dallas first class with 4 cases tagged priority accordingly. unfortunately the cases were apparently put in the wrong part of the hold and we were told to get our connecting flight and we would get our bags delivered max 24 hours later. we are now 19/1/17 and we are still waiting for a case. is this unusual?? i have given up trying to get this case back. From the CEO's office diwn, i have had little support from BA so can i claim back on my credit card as BA has not fulfilled their contract that i paid for?0

No you can't do a chargeback for delayed bags. They're not lost until they've been awol for 21 days, and at that point you would be able to seek compensation from BA in line with the limits within the Montreal Convention. You'll be able to find the info on BA website.
Presumably you got a PIR and were given a missing baggage report number, so you should be able to keep track it on the internet. The CEOs office have nothing to do with delayed bags.0 -
thanks. unfortunately BA do not keep the baggage tracker website up to date. it is still showing as missing. the missing case turned up at Leeds Bradford airport this week. BA assured me they had got it back down to Heathrow and it was awaiting collection by a courier. i checked in with BA 2 days larer and have decided it never left Leeds but no one can trace it now. i surrender!!0
