USD to GBP one-off exchange

Any advice much appreciated. I need to exchange and transfer a fairly large amount of USD to my UK £ bank account and would like to find the most economical way of doing so. The money is with a US attorney at the moment and some of the bank charges being quoted are crazy. Any thoughts please to get the best possible exchange rate with reasonable fees?

If the attorney is not willing or legally able to transfer the funds anywhere except to an account in your name, that may prevent it being sent via a broker to avoid bank fees and unfavourable exchange rates. Even though you set up your own account with the broker, the initial transfer is invariably sent to the broker's own local account in their name.
You might look into the possibility and relative cost of setting up your own USD account there, perhaps with the attorney's help, from which you can then do the international transfer yourself.Evolution, not revolution0 -
just hold on a while longer and further deterioration in the USD:GBP rate will more than cover your costs.Ethical moneysaver0

How's your crystal ball today?
I mean, the outlook's pessimistic from my point of view too, but that's a pretty bold statement.urs sinserly,
