charged for boiler repair diagnostic

Is it common to charge £72 (VAT inc) just to come and see what is wrong with the boiler, and then charge for the work separately? seems a bit steep to me

Take out the VAT and then what is left is the call out charge and the labour charge.
Not too bad but maybe you should have asked how much it would be beforehand.
British gas do a one off repair for less than 100 poundsmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

the repair was charged separately and was £200, they had to replace the hot water/heating valve thing0

oh, just got an email reply from the company, they said they dropped the callout charged
