Kitchen worktop confusion, which material?

    After looking at wood, granite, the plastic stuff and quartz - we decided on quartz - all the rest have either durability issues or are absorbent or both.

    Also have to be carefull on them re hot dishes, not so with quartz

    Thank you. I think Ive decided on quartz now. I've just realised that diy kitchens actually sell some of the Silestone range, just need to decide what colour units and then choose a worktop to compliment it now- I'm not good with decisions. It's been really useful hearing other people's experiences.

    we're going to do polished microcement (beton cire) on the island. Not tried this before but it has the look we want and comes in all sorts of colours :D

    Works out at between £45 and £37 per m² depending on pack size. I'm almost tempted to go with black and mix some pearlescent pigments in to the top coat.
