Hello
Could I ask for your help please. In October I parked in my works permit car park and didn't realise my permit had slipped to my side passenger window (still on display) as I didn't get a ticket the day before. I appealed the ticked and in November had a letter from UKPC asking for a copy of my permit. I sent this off recorded delivery and never heard anything more so presumed it was all sorted until receiving a debt collection letter!! On ringing the debt collection company apparently my appeal was rejected and I was notified which I didn't receive.
The debt collection company said UKPC won't talk to me now and they cant lower the fee to what I should have paid had I had the rejection letter so my only options are to pay them otherwise face this affecting my credit which I don't want to happen.
Sorry for the long story but has anyone got any advice please?

Never call a debt collector, you need to read the newbies thread.0

1) Read this thread about ignoring debt collectors https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5035663
2) Read the newbies faq thread near the top of the forumso you are up to speed on the game you are now involved in
3) Get on to your employer to get it cancelled
4) Come back here for current advice if this ends up with court action0 -
and IGNORE the debt collectors, they are powerless, dont ring them , dont write to them , IGNORE them
all they can do is write scary looking red letters , like me0 -
What happened when you asked your employer to cancel the ticket?
Do you have a union rep that can help?I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -
Agree with all of the above. The Debt Collection agency cannot effect your credit rating. In PCN scenarios only a CCJ can do that and you only get one of those if you 1) are taken to court 2) lose at court and 3) refuse to pay. None of 1, 2 or 3 have happened so don't worry right now.
Has anyone else at your work suffered this problem? I also very much suggest speaking to your employer about this.
Frankly (unless they own the building and the land) they will have a lease and pay rent for office and parking space for you to use.
I would ask them to speak to the landowner (assuming it is not them) and ask the landowner to cancel the ticket as this appears to be to be a genuine mistake and an unfair PCN and probably not at all the objective of implementing the Parking Scheme in the first place (which would have been to stop people who don't work in your office using your space at your expense).
This is definitely worth investigating as I have had a lot of success speaking to landowners/freeholders.0
