it's a huge shame we can't import foods stuffs from non EU countries on a tariff free basis.

Why? I'd have thought it would be quite nice as a consumer to buy food that has been subsidised by other countries' taxpayers.

Postage will erode benefits, IF their ever are any.
Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.

Definitely, especially where you have countries like Australia keen to do a deal asap. Their having seasons opposite to ours means better food imports once we can sort that.

    why?
because we are members of the EU which means we have to apply tariffs on non EU food stuffs

The first good trade deal should be with liberal democratic countries who are your neighbours.

Not desperatly hoping to do business with the worlds most disliked presidential villain.

Aren't you beginning to get embarrassed about this mess you supported ?

no idea what you are trying to say

the shortage of vegetables from Spain is due to the weather.
the reason we can't import veg from non white, non christian non european countries without large tariffs is due to protectionist EU trade restrictions.
Has nothing to do with the USA.

If indeed there are problems with EU trade after brexit that will be 100% due to EU intransience and political malice and cynical willingness to harm the people of the EU27.

Only a really leftie could describe Trump as the most disliked presidential villain with approval.

High street sees 'most disappointing' quarter since 2009 as UK inflation worries mount
The British Retail Consortium found that UK shoppers reined in spending in January - a sign that concerns about rising prices may be beginning to hit confidence.

Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

too far, 12,000 miles and a month by sea

A possible untapped point for Food imports to the EU and UK would be Turkey currently unable to export freely food into the EU/UK. Less than 2,000 miles and 30 hours by road to the UK and less than that to Germany/France etc.
  • Or Africa. The EU milks Africa for all it's worth:

I'd vote for tariff free coffee and cocoa imports from Africa.
