Replacement Bathroom

Hi,

i'm considering replacing my bathroom in the spring and my plan is to buy a bathroom suite and have this fitted by a local tradesman that came recommended. There is a myriad of large providers (Wikes, B&Q, Homebase, Howdens, etc). Can anyone advise which of the larger suppliers provides good quality items?

I'd ask your fitter, he knows which he prefers to use & then he can't blame any problems on the supplier if he recommends them!

I'm in process of doing the bathroom and w/c in my home and am picking bits from different places.
Recently bought the vanities/sinks, toilet and cupboard from Victoria Plumb. Delivery was a bit difficult (but I'm in Scotland so 'outside area') and the delivery company allegedly lost my first order but once repicked by VP it was with me within a few days.
Very pleased with the items and don't think the delivery issue would put me off going back.
I think the bath will be from B&Q as I'm struggling to find exactly what I want elsewhere (champagne style bubbles... don't judge me!).

We bought "Aqua cabinets" from bathroom village last year when they had a 50% sale. Really thrilled with the quality and he customer service was great.

We looked at bathstore and better bathrooms but the aqua cabinets were far superior build wise.

  • All the big players make stuff that is 'good enough'. If you want higher quality then generally you'll need to be looking at more expensive. I found B&Qs design service helpful in just getting my ideas down on paper and checking that what I wanted was actually possible.

When I first looked at your design, I thought 'why are there so many mirrors in that kitchen?' It wouldn't be my choice - but we're in an Edwardian house and have gone suitably retro accordingly (the house didn't have plumbing at all when it was first built, but that was a step too far...)

I do this all day every day. the answer is simple: Get a fitter involved now. Take his advice on where to get your brassware and sanitary ware from.

A lot of stuff from the national sheds is overpriced and mediocre quality. The stuff from internet based suppliers is very poor quality and exceedingly over priced.

Additionally, what you think you can put in your bathroom may not be what you can actually put in a bathroom. An experienced fitter will give you honest and valuable advice before you start spending your money.
