                    Hi all,
I have a company car. I am the sole user of this car and have 5 years no claims for which company is going to issue a certificate.
I however had a private car and my wife was named driver.
I did not claim any no claim bonus on private vehicle as I did not realise I could use company no claims. Now I realise this is possible.
Last year my wife had an accident which was deemed her fault. My private insurance said we had zero no claims bonus.
I informed my company about private insurance claim.
So considering the above, does it mean I will have only 3 years no claims. I am returning my company car and buying my own car now, so need NCB for insurance quotes. As certificate will not be issued before car is returned which is in 3 months time, I am not sure how much NCB I have.

Your wifes claim was nothing to do with your employer
Your company "no claims" won't be affected by it.
But bear in mind that your employer won't be issuing a proper "no claims bonus" certificate - they will be giving you proof of your claim free history.
Ensure any insurer you approach is aware of this difference!0

So does that mean once insurance processed, I need to inform company to verify NCB with my company.0

No, it means you do not have any no claims bonus to use, so dont claim 5 years.
Some insurers may accept your proof of claim free driving and match that into NCB, but you'll need to ask and not expect it's a given.0

So not all insurers do and you have to fulfil certain criteria which it sounds as if you may.
Don't buy and then find out they don't - quote then check their approach online or by phone ... then buy.
Typically, they demand that :-The car needs to have been used for both personal and business use with you as the main driver.
You also need to have been claim free on the company car for a minimum of one year.
You will need to provide proof of both your use of the company car and the number of consecutive years you have driven claim free, your employer will need to provide this.
The proof should be a letter on company headed paper stating that you have been using the car for personal and business purposes.I am just thinking out loud - nothing I say should be relied upon!
I do however reserve the right to be correct by accident.0

As posted, you need to ensure any insurer you approach for cover understands you have no proper "NCD" but have been driving a company car claim free for however many years your employer's "certificate" says before you buy a policycapstain411 wrote: »So does that mean once insurance processed, I need to inform company to verify NCB with my company.0
