Kaspersky Internet Security renewal

Just a warning.Kaspersky is supposed to be one of the top Internet Security packages, but when you sign up by downloading from their website you are obliged to tick the automatic renewal option before you can download. you can go back later and undo this, which I strongly advise you to do because if you allow automatic renewal to just happen you will likely pay considerably more than you will if you buy the package fresh each year. I would have paid £35 today if I had automatically renewed, but only paid £25 by buying it fresh. It will download and delete the previous version installed on your computer, though you will get a message advising you not to do this, no doubt because Kaspersky would rather charge you more for automatic renewal.

I saved even more by not bothering to use any paid-for AV type software.0

I too saved £35 by using Avast. For free. Every year.0

Good warning. I hate these default auto-renew setups - applies to a lot of other things as well (including insurance).
As it happens, I use a Mac, so don't need the anti-virus overhead checking everything (fortunately, still no known viruses for OS X / macOS in the wild BUT you still have to be careful of malware and anything requiring the admin password to be entered. I use malwarebytes (mentioned above for Windows as well) as a regular check. I still regularly use Windows 10 but in a VM on my Mac, and have to use AV protection when I do, currently ESET but I limit my use of Windows 10 as much as possible to specific applications I am obliged to use that are not available on the macOS platform (e.g. Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio).A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, but ignorance is lethal.0 -
I am a long-time Kaspersky user, so are 4 family members. I have a 1-year, 5-device Total Security setup and it is due for renewal soon. Before I download anything, I always carefully check the download page for checkboxes and additionals. When Kas is due for renewal, they always inform me. I click for the download site and download the next years' Total Security, or whatever name they give it then.
I used to think a Free AV would be OK. Then, some years ago, I was hit with a monster nasty. The fact is that the free AV's do not receive constant updates that the paid for programmes get. These are applied from Kaspersky's database to my PC, several times a day. Ther is no effect upon the working of my system and the only way I know it has updated, is when a quick popup tells me "Database has been Updated." There is actually much more to the Kaspersky TS than just an AV programme. Password manager, File shredder, cleanup, many different tools are available from the Dashboard.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.
