Late return of motorbility car

My partner was awarded standard rate mobility which means we need to return the car, by working out it should go back tomorrow for us to qualify for the transition payment, but as of yet we still haven't heard from motorbility giving us details of returning or buying the car and the transition payment, I have contacted them 3 times expressing our worries, and we keep getting told not to worry they are chasing it up with dwp, but this doesn't stop us worrying, we really would need the help of the transitional support payment to buy a new car and I feel they are just going to say we was late in returning the car.

Has anyone had this problem or can at least give some kind of reassurance.

As long as you have made contact within the time frame given then I am sure everything will be fine.

You have done your part so now it is just a waiting game.

Are you sure it needs to go back tomorrow? IIRC it doesn't have to go back until six weeks after the PIP decision.

It can take a couple of months after it goes back for the transitional payment to be made though.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
  • The day I got my award letter from the DWP, I rang motability to let them know what had happened and when I should return the car.

They told me not to worry as it would probably be a few weeks as they had not had any notification from the DWP.

Motability will write to you and tell you when to bring the car back.

I have now returned my car to them. All in all, it took six weeks.

It only took five days before I got my cheque from them, with a letter to let you know how to return to motability.

We recieved the pip decision at the end of Nov, I rang motorbility the day we got the letter and was told to wait for the letter that will give the info on returning/buying the car and any support package, I have contacted them 3 more times since, explaining we still have received a letter, I was worried xmas had delayed things, each time I've been told not to worry dwp hasn't informed them yet, today the lady I spoke to was more understanding and explained more, she told me that this was a rare case, and normally you would be informed well before the return date, but because it's a rare occurrence that they are more flexible with the date of the return of the car and it wouldn't affect any support package that was due
