Recommended Aluminium French Door Companies

Evening all
I wondered if anyone could recommend a good but reasonable company who supply and fit aluminium external french doors?
I am having some building work at the rear of my house. I was originally going to have bi-fold doors but the opening is now going to be 1.8m wide and so bi-folds I personally think will look silly.
So I thought it would be simple to find companies for a quote as I did for the bi-fold quotes but its not! Almost every company who supply aluminium doors do bi-folds but no mention of french!
I am assuming the bi-fold door companies will still be able to supply french doors but I would like to hear of any recommended companies on the basis of price and experience.
Many thanks in advance!

I had aluminium French doors supplied and fitted by UKbifold at the end of last year. They were one of the few companies which would supply doors the size I needed 2.1 m wide by 2.4 m high and were also very competitively priced. I absolutely love them and it's amazing when you open up both doors. So glad I didn't go for either bifolds (too bulky and fussy for the space) or sliding (you can only open up half the space unless you have space for a pocket door). The door profiles are from Reynaers which is one of the big suppliers. The sight lines are not the slimmest on the market - you pay a premium for that - but I actually like the frame. It makes a definite statement and makes it look a bit like a picture frame. I am really pleased with the quality and the double glazing has made a huge difference to the warmth of the room. In fact the glass is so efficient on a couple of occasions I have noticed condensation on the outside!
The only thing I would say is that you are probably better off getting someone local to fit them. Although UKbifold's customer services has been fantastic sorting everything there have been problems with the fitting which has meant a lot of to-ing and fro-ing and because their fitters are not based locally it has been a bit of a pain. Also they don't do any finishing (which I didn't realise) so you will have to get someone in anyway if there is any making good needed.0 -
Many thanks for your response - I really appreciate it. I have heard that UKbifold are a good company when I was looking for bifold doors originally so thats great to hear.
Do you have any pictures of your doors?
I am a bit mindful of getting someone else to fit them. I have heard horror stories of people getting doors supplied by company and fitted by someone else and then something goes wrong and neither the supplier or the fitter will take responsibility for the issues. Just makes me a bit nervous.
I have had a quote from the company I was originally going to buy my bi-fold doors from but has come back more expensive than I was expecting - £500 less than the bi-folds and 400mm less in width. I don't quite understand that really.
Thanks again - I really appreciate your response.0 -
Ukbifold are fine until you have a problem. Then there customer service is terrible. I had problems with the internal blinds, they didn't want to know.. I had to end up contacting the glass manufacturers myself to sort the problem out.
