Poor aftercare service leaving BT

I stopped BT services and have an email from them saying services would be stopped at the beginning of September.
The continued to bill me until December despite me calling them every month and being promised the account would be closed.
I am now struggling to get the refund back which is over £100 at this stage.
At each step of the way I have had to explain the full process. Staff have made promises they would help to have seemingly done nothing when I have had to call back. Even now I have been told the refund would be paid twice but yet I am still waiting.
Overall i am really disappointed and frustrated with BT. I tried to complain but they automatically closed the complaint when they closed the account - but crucially they havent made the refund payment.
For anyone going through the same process I would advise you keep all records of contact - times duration and who you spoke to. If I had of kept these I would have been able to elevate the complaint.
