Balance transfer payment

Hi. This might be a stupid question but Does a balance transfer to a new credit card count as a payment to the previous card? What I mean as as I have to pay monthly payments does the transfer count as a payment. I will make a payment as well but just curious.

Thanks. Yes new card arrived today and payment for nw card is not due til start of Feb as I recieved statement last week.0
