UKCPS Victory.

Hi,

Just thought I would share my experience dealing with UKCPS after a parking ticket on a dubious piece of land in Leeds.

I'm not saying this is the right way to deal with it, just how i chose to....

I disregarded initial "windscreen sticker" ticket (£60 "charge" for parking on "private land").

Received letters for the following few months, ever more threatening by each one (and increased costs each time). Again, disregarded all of these.

Received a final letter saying "pay up or we will take you to court" or words to that effect.

I was happy to contest this in court so thought i would let them do what they like.

Next letter was from small claims court (money claims online: www .moneyclaim.gov.uk).

I sent letter of acknowledgement back saying I am contesting the whole of the claim.

I agreed to arbitration but they would not budge from wanting the total amount (i think this was around £200). I said i am not paying it and would happily see them in court.

Next was a letter from them offering to reduce it to £120, ignored that.

Then a letter offering to reduce it to £85, ignored that too.

Then a letter came from the court saying they (UKCPS) had to pay the extra fees to get it seen by a judge or it would be discontinued (thrown out).

Again, I believed I had a good enough argument to win in front of a judge so this didn't worry me.

Then a couple of days after that letter, we received a letter advising that they were no longer perusing the case (they had given up).

At no point did i communicate with them directly (again, not saying this is right, just my choice).

They are just out for the easy-wins by the looks of it and don't expect people to actually put up any fight.

I guess the letter from the court will often be enough to push people towards paying up.

My thought was that i was not going to pay any money to anyone unless a judge tells me to, right or wrong, i was sticking to that.

Oh, this whole process took well over a year.

Just my story....

It would help others if you posted up the defence you used when replying to the court following receipt of the claim

Well done and yes these cowboys just like all the other cowboys in the parking industry prey on easy pickings.

They would know they had little chance to win but they chanced their money trying ........ a stupid company indeed

The Parking Prankster may well like to blog your case, why not email him
    prankster@parking-prankster.com

In the meantime, see his blogs on UKCPS, you will love it. To a point that they tried to accuse internet forums like this one of being a scam ?????
Mr UKCPS ... AKA ... Trev Goodwood, a well known Retrobate, has been on the funny stuff for years
