Replacement Bathroom Door

Weekend disaster included a friend getting locked in our bathroom because the handle mechanism broke and the latch would not go back into the door.

Despite best efforts, we had to smash the door in to get it open again :(
Door was 4 panel, solid pine, with etched glass panels at the top.
Bottom half of the door is now smashed through completed and we had to pry it away from the frame to get it open (with great difficulty!!). Handle mechanism looks like it's been in there for 1000 years. The etched glass is still in tact, but i don't think we can do anything with it.
The remaining 'shards' of wood are in too many pieces to glue and fill back into place.

Now it's the dilemma of getting a new bathroom door.
Does anyone have any suggestions of the type of bathroom door they prefer? 4 panel, 6 panel, shaker etc? Husband hated the etched glass, i loved it.
Is it easy to fit yourself?

yes it's very easy to fit, buy you will need few tools, chisels/drill if they haven't got already holes handles done.

Why on earth should it concern you as to what type of bathroom door other people prefer. What you like is the only thing that matters. Doors are not particularly difficult to fit. But, having said that. It can be a little awkward to fit the hinges to the new door in exactly the same place as the old ones. If you have no experience or lack sharp chisels, then it might be better to find a chippy or competent DIYer.

I'd try to find a door that matched the others on the landing, personally!

    Wow. Sorry for asking! :(
There are so many options available, i was intrigued by what other people have before buying one for myself...

Sorry if I offended you. But I repeat the question. Why does it matter what someone else likes or has fitted?
What you like, is what matters.
You ask about the number of panels. But surely you would want to match the door to existing ones, albeit with glass instead of solid infill panels. If that is what you prefer.

What I don't like about our bathroom door is that the two glass panels in the top half are mostly etched but there's a pattern with thin lines that are completely clear. It's okay when it's your own child peering through the door at you having a wee but not so good when grown up visitors get an eye full!

If we had to replace it, I'd try to get doors like the rest on the landing (Victorian, with the top panels much taller than the bottom ones) - the current one is a lazy attempt at a match when the bathroom was added decades later - but we'd have to have the top half glass as it's such a small room and dark corridor that we need all the light we can get. I'd love to replace that door but after I made the husband pay for a custom front door to restore the entrance to its former glory, I'm not allowed to mention doors for at least 10 years :rotfl:

I think ours are the same (ratio of bottom to top panels) but then we have a 6 panel one downstairs, a beautiful top glazed 2 panel, 4 panels upstairs and a stable front door... :rotfl:

I do like the glass, but our bathroom is more tucked away - you would only see the door if you wanted the bathroom, so no risk to guests (as long as they know someone is in there...)

Such a shame, as i haven't been able to find a door online with the etching anywhere similar :(
