I did shop on Tuesday but only spent £4.80 on breakfast bars and 70p on cat food. No other visits.....

I'm trying to (plan) and base meals on what I've got in the cupboards and freezer.

Took out lamb rack for dinner tomorrow and doh it wasn't suitable for freezing according to the packaging. It's now in my fridge defrosting. It's m&s rack of lamb with a rosemary lemon and garlic crumb. Surely this will be fine to eat once defrosted and cooked?

Not spent anything yet this week, I have meals planned for the next 3 days (so I guess that's the weekend sorted) but may shop before then as I am starting to run low on most things now and will want a glass of wine by then! keep up the good work everyone.....:D

    Spent £2.98.
OH picked up more eggs for yep you guessed it more pancakes. He also bought me two packs of gem lettuce and two packs of sweet potato tagliatelli - these were reduced.

Dinner : pancakes (OH). Sweet and sour vegetable tofu with rice (me).

The sweet and sour vegetable tofu was doubled so tomorrow just have to bung it in the microwave with the rice that is in the fridge - three portions worth of rice was cooked yesterday in rice cooker.

    £129.54/£155.
    £125.46 left

I t:hink it will just be the crumb topping that might be more soggy than usual :)
  • Doom_and_gloom pancakes are a favourite here at the moment I'm sick looking at them. I had to buy eggs, baking powder and bicarbonate of soda today.

I had been doing so well with my NSDs, however had to buy the above and milk. So £4.88 out of my budget.

I will have to get some things at the supermarket tomorrow but I have a list and I will be sticking to it (hopefully)!

Sounds like a great start. Yes, I find meal planning really helps and going out with a list.

Can I go for £110 for 1 and 4 cats please?
I'm not 100% sure on my exact spends at the moment but I'm fairly sure that's about it (I do a monthly online shop and then only pick up things here and there!)
This is to include cat food, litter and household / cleaning products, foods and drink.
From 28th February until 30th March please

    Thanks

Had my monthly online order so now at £69.90/£110 £40.10 left for the month but I have enough to cover except few bits here and there like bread
    :)
  • Doing my first proper meal plan for the upcoming week. Only fly in the ointment is that DH cooks on the weekends, and he hates planning in advance. So either I send him shopping with my list (which means he will come back with double quantities of all the things on it plus, i don't know, a rack of lamb just because he fancied it) or I have to nag him to decide what he wants to cook so I can buy his stuff. I don't want to plan the weekend for him because the whole point of him cooking is that I get a break from having to think about it! (Why don't we have a foot stamping emoticon?).

Anyway weekly meals, Monday to Friday, are:
    Vegetarian lasagne
HM chicken nuggets, oven chips, coleslaw
Spinach and quinoa salad bowl with lemon caper dressing
    Sausages, mash and leftover coleslaw
Baked salmon in foil with couscous and whatever veg I have left

It's the kids' lunches I find hard. They're not fussy kids in general, but lunches are a nightmare. Anyone want to share what they pack their kids?
