Hi
Hope I am posting in the right place....first time on the boards!!
Can you help me as to what (if any) rights I have here...
My son and 5 friends booked a minibus to Manchester last night and arranged for a 4.30am pick up. They paid the full amount of £80 (included return fare also) on the way there, but the minibus didnt turn up for them to return. After trying to ring the company (ring back at 7.00am!!) they eventually had to get two 'rank' taxis back, which cost them £100 in total (£50 per taxi)......so in all the 6 of them had to pay out £180 to get to Manchester and back......
The taxi firm say they will 'look into it today' for me......can anyone tell me what I may be entitled to......does it entail a contract being broken......am I entitled to the full amount paid out due to them breaking the contract?....or simply tough and here's the £40 for the failed return journey??
Would appreciate a quick reply on this one please if possible....
Thank you

my partner runs an airport transfer business, he's never forgotten pasengers as yet however he's known another company who has.... in the end the passengers got a black cab then rang the origonal company and demanded the return fee which in your case was 40 quid plus the cost of the additional transfer they had to pay which in your case was another 100 quid. Your looking at a total of 140 pounds which is nearly double what your origonal quote was.
my advice would be (i'm not a professional by the way) write a letter to the company stating they broke the terms of an agreement with you. (did you get any confirmation of their booking??) and that you want the 140 pounds refunded for the reasons stated. They have x amount of days to do this otherwise you will take things further on advice from a solicitor to claim through the small claims court or local paper where you'll name and shame them.
good luck0 -
I believe that they would be reasonably entitled to the £100 extra cost, not £140, as they did expect to pay £40 for the return journey.
I assume that the flight was on time and your son and friends were waiting where they were supposed to, and that the taxi firm will not have any excuse that the taxi was there but your son and his friends were not.0
