Hi!
So first time buyer my budget is 285 which can hopefully stretch to 295
Won't rule out a flat but preferring a house ideally two beds
Disadvantage is I am single although my wage is double the average
I a,mnot too keen on crawley although live in a house share i nmaidenbower and that part is OK but pricey and far from shops etc plus I don't like living too close to work
With family in chichester I am looking for somewhere between the two as far as say Pulborough
Obviously the whole area is expensive but the advantage is I am not commuting to London so I cna live further out as well as travel costs not being an issue
Any advice for where to look? Does that budget look reasonable? That's with a 60k possibly 70k deposit which is surely more than average

If you haven't already, I'd draw a search area on rightmove. If you see something you like, someone on here is bound to know the area.
I had a quick look in the vague area and there were over 200 2 bed houses.
If you look away from stations you will probably get more for your money.
I don't know the area that well, but my cousin used to live in Haywards Heath which was indeed lovely (another vote!).
Good luck.

Driving or train? If driving, look at Worthing and Lancing.0

Thanks
I assumed haywards heath was incredibly expensive but then so is Horsham so I will give it a look
Yes I have drawn a map on rightmove which is very useful
As I get free train travel it makes sense to be near to a train station.. But I need to drive durint the night etc when trains aren't running0 -
Haywards Heath is nowhere near as expensive as Horsham - and has much better transport links - though obviously you pay a premium for being on the commuter line. Burgess Hill is cheaper, but not as nice. As Nick says, somewhere like Worthing or Shoreham is a good option if you drive, and better access to Chichester too.LBM Sep 2008 debt: £27,927.04start weight: 140.2, week 2: 1380

Train from Worthing to Crawley is normally 50 minutes, but you have to change. I used to live in Worthing. Nice little town and property is much cheaper than Hayward's Heath. Lots of small victorian 2/3 bed terraces.0
