best way to book a hotel in france

Hi,

Not much of a traveller these days - I wondered what was the best option for booking and paying for a hotel in France? If I go directly through the hotels online booking system how do I know what the fee would be for me to use a credit or debit card and with the Euro exchange fees?

I tried to find out through the hotel, but as I don't speak French it got a bit confusing. They say I can pay the deposit through SWIFT/bank transfer, but they also want my credit card details for the remaining fee.

Thanks,

You could try a site like Accor.com they have various brands and is in English, priced in £s and clearly states any extra charges through the booking process. F1, from around £29 a night at the cheaper end, no en-suite bathroom, Ibis budget, ibis and others.

not sure if it's all over France but there does seem to be a small tax payable locally in some, maybe all hotels, under a € a night.

A second vote for Accor, the website will give you a variety of hotels in the area to suit all budgets, and as above will be in £.

    This is the correct website

  • Thanks for your help everyone. It was more knowing the best way of paying directly I wanted to know. In the end I paid with a bank transfer.
