Motorpoint's website will usually tell you if the car is an import...

I bought a new car from motorpoint derby it was sold as pre registered but when i viewed it was a new car with 3 miles on the clock

it was a european import and had a ford warranty which was one year less than the warranty on UK sourced cars

if it is a year old car try and find where it has come from many are ex fleet or ex rental hire cars

also they will not allow any discount, the price you see is the price you pay
  • Hi both
    Thanks

Re delivery mileage, it can be up to but usally about 3/6 miles on brand on cars if the non pre reg - the brand new GLS i bought had 4 miles - many years ago my wife bought a brand new fiesta had 80 miles on the clock, we should have challeneged it but we did not.

Very interesting re warrnaty. Re ex rental, many cars on main delaers sites are like that

Yes aware re no dosi!!!!s and may even charge an admin fee on low budget car

thanks again guys very helpful will keep everyhting in mind

the car that i bought was a ford mondeo and it was new and had no plates and still had the delivery protection skin on it when i first viewed it, but when i received the V5 i was the second registered keeper and the first keeper was a holding company who i assume responsible for importing the car from belgium

I had no problem with this as the saving was massive over buying from our local ford main dealers

also if you buy somthing with 13K make sure it has had first service or meets the service requirement laid down by the manufacturer as a missed service interval may void any remaining warranty

Motorpoint are well established as pre reg and/or imported dealers.

As mentioned, warranty implications are possible.

    also, have you checked Carwow
for actual NEW car prices, You will have a car with you as first registered owner, full warranty and better potential re-sale price, when the time comes to move it on.

Cheers for the heads up re warranty, something that could easily be overlooked by someone like me.

A couple of weeks ago, my wifey test drove both the Juke and Ford Ecosport autos - she is two minded re which one and I'm for the juke on 15/65 plate but we will see as she already has a car - again many thanks for your insight/help

Cheers, we have checked Carwow - new cars and prereg more than motor point - having said that I bought my brand new MB GLS from carefil - saving of 9k on dealer prices direct but the car we bought via carfile, we picked up from a main dealer in in Brum - main delars at MB esepcially won't give you these saving dont know why.
    Thanks again

I bought an Astra sporthatch when they came out, it was from Cyprus. Full uk spec RHD brand new, 4 miles on the clock. It was about 3 1/2k below uk dealer price, basically I got an SRI with more power for the price of an sxi. No issues with Motorpoint they were fine.

Remember the juke is available as a 4wd or 2wd variant, make sure that you get the one you want, and you are comparing prices like for like.

It is a CVT auto too, not a proper torque converter one, some people swear by Nissan's CVT, some people swear at it.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))
  • Hi Facde

All of our cars inc wifey and our childern have full autmatics and it was bizzares hearing that drone in the juke, the Ecosport sounded like a normal auto - this car is only for to work and back, ie a runaround and if we do go for it, hopefully ok - thanks for sharing you experience with M/point
