How far apart should I space lights in plinth

I'm supposed to be marking out tonight how far apart I want the lights in my plinths, but unsure. I think they'll look better not too far apart ? Will they look better matched with the facing plinth ? Also are they dead centre in the plinth or do you allow for the bit that's under the units and drop lights down a bit further nearer the floor ?
Many thanks for any advice

These are spaced at 150mm and central to plinth height

I may be a bit thick, so I'll ask: what are they for?

My ignorant self has the feeling they might be just chav-bait, but if there's a practical reason for having them, I'll tell him to be quiet. :)

Okay, I confess. I'd space them back to the shop with the receipt :o

Have you not seen the rows of lights set into the floor on an aircraft ?

They are there so that you find your way to the nearest exit when the place is full of smoke :p

Personally I could see them far enough. I, too, waited for an eternity for my kitchen. We also have high gloss tiles and dh put every possible light in there, including plinth lights.
I hate them. Even if I have cleaned my floors a few hours before, they highlight every tiny crumb or bit of fluff, and make even a clean floor look as if it is covered in dust bunnies.
If you are happy with that, then enjoy! Ours, btw, are more spaced out than the ones in the above picture, and they are on an L shape, so they were put where it was practical depending on where the kitchen unit legs were.

From buying my first house to having the first new kitchen was exactly 39 years, so not an eternity, but still a significant chunk of my alloted time on this planet.

By then, I'd acquired enough self-knowledge to understand that drawing attention to the floor area in our kitchen would probably not be a fantastic idea.

My wife disagreed, being adamant that she, having waited roughly 35 of those years, would keep this new kitchen immaculate, but I didn't believe her.

P.S. The under wall unit LED strips are wonderful though.

Well the plinths are in....with no lights

I've already got the under wall unit led lights

So thinking maybe.....ribbon led lights running around top of wall units instead
  • I have kitchen units on 3 sides and a central island. I choose to put plinth lights around the island but not around the rest of the kitchen units. They were 30mm round lights which appear to be bigger than the ones in the picture. I spaced them according to the number of cupboards approximately - I believed there were about 12 in the end. I linked then up to a PIR so that they come on when someone walks into the kitchen day or night. They work really well and light up the kitchen enough so that you can get yourself around and maybe get a drink late at night.

I think putting them everywhere would be overkill.

Each to their own I suppose but it works well for us and they use such little power I don't mind if they end up on pernamently - I'm sure the dog switches them during the night - but in some respects a bit of a security device as well if the house in unoccupied.

    Hope this helps.
