Nowadays, people are not usually allowed to build over inpection covers, but existing ones like this should be double sealed with a rubber gasket and completely air -tight.
Since yours isn't even water-tight, although it screws down, it breaks regulations and ought to be replaced.
Your landlady sounds a tight !!!!, so the best way is probably to involve Environmental Health. Tell her that in your panic you left a message on their answerphone and they got back to you on Monday morning....;)

My Dad has gone to the environmental health this morning as he was concerned for our safety. They are coming out today and I have possibly got to be put in temp accommodation. I'm now worried my landlady will go mad

Tough if she does. Your health comes first! Tell her to email/block her number if she gives you grief. Keep a paper trail.

The Deregulation Act 2015 (S33)may offer protection from the LL going mad and serving a S21 Notice (for eviction). Hopefully she'll be understanding/reasonable though.
The Act invalidates a S21 served in 'retalitory eviction' (ie after a tenant complains). However, the Act applies if
i) the tenant has reported an issue to the LL in writing (one reason I always suggest tenant write letters!)
ii) the tenant has complained to the council
iii) the council has inspected
iv) the council has issued an improvement notice to the LL
In this case the LL has not really had time to respond to your complaint (i above) so it is a little uncertain how a judge would interpret the Act. The Act is also new, so there are limited previous cases tolearn from.

Have you sent anything to the landlord yet in writing? An email may suffice until you can print and post a letter.
Ask her to say what remedial work she plans to undertake and by when. Then pass this to environmental health if she sends it before they arrive. At least then they will know what the landlord plans to do and can make a decision on wherher this is appropriate or whether something more urgent is needed.0 -
Brass tacks....
Your LL is a 5h1ster for a start...
TBF SW are no doubt experiencing storm conditions across their network.
Having said that it sounds like the blockage isn't on their trunk sewer, it's a lateral problem.
I can only reiterate what 2 other posters have said...
DO NOT put bloody baby wipes etc down the loo..
And !!!!!!, a carpeted kitchen!!???0
