It's likely that you are the victim of an 'Erroneous Transfer' - These happen when someone does a Switch and the address or meter numbes get scrambled in the process.
The rule is that customers subject to these !!!!-ups should not in any way be financially dis-advantaged - Contact both N'power and SSE, (Best in writing) telling them to sort it out so that you remain with SSE0 -
You should have received correspondence from the incoming supplier before the switch was completed. Did you, and has the switch process actually completed yet? Give more info and you will get proper advice. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I was with n power in my old flat 2 years ago when I moved to my present flat I went with sse
I did get 2 emails from n power asking for meter readings I thought they related to my old flat and to my mistake ignored them.
I will call n power and sse in the morning
thanks0 -

Your response probably raises more questions that it answers.
However, I do agree that contacting the suppliers involved in the first instance is probably the best way forward0 -
When you moved to your current address, were SSE the actual suppliers at the time you moved in?
Did you sign up with the actual suppliers and then switch to SSE?
Did you tell npower 2 years ago that you had moved out?
What address do npower want readings for - the new one, or the one from 2 years ago?0 -
I signed a 3 year deal with sse when we moved in the flat 2 years ago
I informed n power we were moving
they have my new address because that's where they sent the final bill from my old address
the readings are for my present address but I only found this out when I logged onto my old n power account0 -
You haven't answered the question though. Were SSE the existing supplier when you moved in? When you occupy a property, you are in a deemed contract with the existing supplier, and you can't switch away until you first register with them.
Nor can you move an account from one property to another.
It may be that NPower were coincidentally the existing supplier, as this will have nothing to do with your old property. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

SSE were the original suppliers at your new address so you took out a 3-year supply contract with them.
You should write and/or email SSE asking for confirmation that they are your current supplier and will be until your 3-year contract ends.
As for Npower - WRITE them a letter headed COMPLAINT in big bold letters - so they get the message - and send it by recorded delivery.
In your letter, state that, as they know, you moved 2 years ago and paid off all monies owed to Npower at the old address and that your current address has NEVER been supplied by Npower while you have lived there.
Also state that SSE were the suppliers to the property when you moved in and that you conyinued to take supply from SSE and the current address has nothing to do with Npower.
Also tell them that you will ONLY deal with this matter by letter and not on the phone.
If they do ring up, be polite and insist that they do everything in writing - this will mean you have apaper trail which you can produce should it go further.
Send it, as I said, by recorded delivery and keep your proof of delivery.
Wait for 56 days for a response, and don't let them close the complaint without the resolution you want - allow 60 days to allow for delivery - and then escalate it to the Ombudsman.
This seems a straightforward case of a supplier having updated their system with an address for sending a final bill which has been wrongly listed as the supply address.0
