Glad to hear about OH's job - sometimes the fear of what might happen can be a very powerful tool on the MSE front - I had my income slashed by 2/3rds pretty much overnight and completely unexpectedly a few years back - it made us work out what our "bottom line" expenditure was and start working to it - which in turn meant we were able to continue OP'ing the mortgage.
Well done for finding a fiver in your drawers too ...:rotfl::p
:rotfl:it took some rummaging :rotfl:
We haven't give to bare bones yet. We could still cut back more. But we have definitely made improvements.i've just read all of your diary, as i seem to have found a couple whilst seeking some other advice and have been hooked.
well done on getting a good chunk off! its always intersting to see peoples before and current totals in signatures or theres percentages of such. from what i read, your a solid 25% off!
Thank you! We did get a couple of windfalls. My dad gave me £2k at Christmas and we got £1500 bonus. We also got £1k from MIL For a holiday. So we are a bit further ahead from where we might be but not as far ahead as we should be iyswim.Treadingonplaymobil wrote: »Lovely to see you BOP, and it sounds like you've made really positive steps in the face of the uncertainty with your DH's job. I hope you get the full facts soon and are able to work with your new budget.
You will be the first to know the new budget. Well, you and the rest of the MSE world when I come here for advice.Debt Jan 2017 = £42kMay 2022 = £15k0 -

I have just read your diary from the start and have really enjoyed it! You have a really friendly, positive writing style.
I was under redundancy notice at the start of the year and it was a horrible experience. Luckily I made it through to the other side too but I do know how upsetting and stressful it can be. So drawn out too...0 -
That's stressful for you. I know you are protected on mat leave but you don't need the uncertainty of not knowing what you'll walk back into. Mind, I suppose the big hungry baby will keep your mind off it:D
Yeah not ideal & makes it difficult to plan ahead as I need to apply for a job share/reduced hours as well, which further complicates things.
:rotfl: Yes the big hungry baby is keeping me busy so I'm trying not to think about it for now.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0 -

I am quite a chirpy person. Its good for hiding the swirling vortex of anger and resentment I have inside.

Back to my normal pattern of not posting for days and then posting loads at once.
Good things- Actually been out. On the town. With the husband. Not done it in a while. We went to our local fighty market town (as opposed to the lovely city in the other direction), so it was quite an economical, albeit slightly disconcerting, way to do pub crawling.
- Had a takeaway. I know this is in the Good Things and really belongs in the Bad Things but it is honestly such a relief to be able to do normal things again that here is where it is staying
- Have decided to give my hair a break from drying and bleaching. It is not in good condition. I am hoping this will help on the bill too.
- Have swtiched from dishwasher tablets to dishwasher powder. For nipcheese purposes.
- We have definitely inherited another classic bike. This may get demoted to Bad Things
- Debt total today £31,900. This feels close to £30k which is so much more manageable than £42k.
Bad Things- Havent organised the BT from the new card to the high interest card.
- Am lazy. In general.
