I'm going to do slimming world from home combined with jogging.., will start the couch to 5k programme tomorrow and log my progress here. I feel like the weight is really holding me back in so many ways so it's time to say goodbye to it...
Also doing SW, lost 8lb in 5 weeks so far, and just about to start week 4 of C25K. Have surprised myself by actually not hating running (wouldn't go so far as to say I enjoy it!) and loving the feeling of achievement after I have completed a run.
Good luck, let us know how you are getting on

Thank you Kate... good to know it works. I will keep updating here if only to keep me on track!0

I'm also going to keep a running total here of all my extra income efforts as although it's only a few pounds here and there, it all adds up.
Ebay so far in Feb...£35.49
Swagbucks in Feb...£20 amazon vouchers
Interest... 3.07 + 10.38 = 13.45
Premium bonds win....£25
Mini survey £10 pets at home voucher
Total extra income this month: £103.94
Wow! I didn't realise it was that much until I added it all up! Go me! Of course at the moment very little of this has been turned into real cash... the eBay money is stuck in limbo until that chargeback issue is resolved and the vouchers are just bits of paper at the moment...0 -
Epic fail on the diet front today. I have decided I'm not going to follow a specific diet as I keep rebelling. I'm simply going to aim for sugar free and no snacking, and do the couch to 5k.
Also epic fail on the spending front today...I bought a film on iTunes for the kids, lunch out at costa and popped into lidls to get DD a cookie and came out with a £26 chest of drawers! Damn lidls and their special offers!
On the up side, I sold an old heart rate monitor on eBay for £18, and got 245 swagbucks so am nearing another £10 voucher. Goes some way to offsetting my spending today!
Also on the upside, I did manage day one of couch to 5k, with both kids in tow (!)
Baby steps I guess...0 -

Hi Allotrope. I'm a TA at a senior school but science is definitely not my favourite subject & I had to google what allotrope actually meant, lol!
Good luck on your journey, that's a lot of savings you intend to do there! I need to look at my pension too. Do you mind me asking do you just pay more per month through your employer or do you have a private pension?0 -
Hello MM...I don't mind you asking. I have an old private pension that's worth peanuts (about £1000 a year if I retire at 67) and the rest will be teachers pension and state pension. I'm not managing to save as much as I'd hoped each month (it was a mad goal to be honest) but am putting a few hundred aside to buy additional pension. About to do a post on that actually.
To be honest I find the whole pension thing terrifying- should you save like now but miss out on fun stuff like holidays with the kids or do the holidays but struggle in later life... should I do up for the house or live in a pit but have fun? horrible decisions!0 -
I didn't realize you could sell old routers....i left mine at my old flat....hmm I know for in future though

And you have reminded me that I have an old heart rate monitor in a drawer I could pop on eBay too!!
Well done on your progress so far, is great to read and get tips!
Also I'm impressed with your commitment to running with kids in tow- really fab
First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!0
