Recall on BMW E53 X5 steering wheel airbags

If you own an E53 X5 then BMW have a recall which is not being broadcast very much, the drivers steering wheel airbag can deploy under sertain conditions, this is an issue that they found in hotter countries, but they did a world wide recall and you can take your X5 E53 (as long as it is the E53 model) along to you local dealer for a new one to be fitted for free, as part of the service they will do a complimentary health check and valet of your car.
Mine is a 2003 model and Bowkers in Preston sorted it out no problem or fuss. :T:T:T:T:T

BMW should have recalled them by now, the recall was in 2008, according to VOSA/DVSA.

You are lucky you didn't get a 2001, BMW forgot to connect the steering column to anything on some of them!

BMW also forgot to connect the indicator control to the indicator lights on most of their cars.

That applies to most German cars, whereas the Japanese ones seem to have the wiring crossed over- indicate right=violent swerve to the left, indicate left=swerve to the right and straddle white line. ;)
