Car Insurance while on ESA

Hi
Hoping someone may have some advise. I have always worked, but unfortunatley at last have had to slow down. I am, as of May when I was made redundant, on Employment and support allowance: Support Group. I am hoping to get back to work eventually. I just went to renew my Car Insurance today OMG what a shock. Last year I paid £355 and that was with 2 other people on. This year just for me £600 - £1200. This apparently is due to I am unemployed. I can't claim I'm retired due to medical grounds, as I hope to go back to work eventually. I don't think I'm unemployed, I'm I'll! Insurance companies are not allowed to say unemployed due to ill health. So they only stated Unemployed. I need my car to get to the Hospitals, as I have 12+ illnesses, but can't afford these quotes. Does anyone know of an Insurance Company that cover people with illnesses? Any assistance would be great
Thank you
Sue

Not employed due to disability?0
-
Hi
Yes ESA Support group = disability - Heart Valve replacements x 2, Pacemaker, Renal Transplant, Blood Pressure, Medication induced Type 1 Diabetic. Osteoporosis, Arthritis, Oncology, Asthma, +++ Everything was fine with heart and the transplant, unfortunately it's the additional illnesses you can get due to medication. Some people get nothing, some a few. I was lucky and got loads. Got to the stage where I was to exhausted to work, I have a disability badge as I can't walk far, and although a few years ago I swopped to an automatic car to make things easier, my car is not adapted in any way. There are people worse off health wise, this I understand. I am just annoyed to be penalised this way for car insurance0 -
I mean, "not working due to disability" is a standard option for employment status on insurance websites (at least, it wants certainly an option when I just checked on money supermarket - I just had to click "other" a couple of times before it appeared)) Have you tried putting that down instead of "unemployed" and dies it make your quotes look better?0

Hi
Sorry, thanks for your help. 70% of the companies I had tried wont use unemployed due to disability, something to do with they have to be careful with discrimination or something. Anyway, I just tried Money Supermarket, they got it down to £500 using due to disability, so that is better, but still £150 more than last year. Again thank you for you help, will probably use this quote as I need my car. Just have to save a bit more.0
