Can I switch a Direct Debit online?

Options
Without using the full on switch service? I just want to move over my gym membership's monthly DD over to another account.

I opened an additional account a few years ago after a hacking and I wanted a spare account, and touch wood, over those past few years, nothing like that has happened, and I do have credit cards now incase of an emergency.

So a few months ago, I closed them all down, deciding to keep all of my income and outgoings on my First Direct account. Although over the past few months, I've started having more Direct Debits and recently got myself a part time job alongside university so I'd like to start claiming rewards with Halifax. I moved my O2 DD over to Halifax, I could move my Barclaycard one over but I'd like to keep that on my FD account because I have more money in that account and an overdraft facility incase of an emergency as such. The next best thing would be to move my gym membership over to Halifax for the two DD's.

I originally applied online but I can't find anywhere to log in, the next best thing would be to go to my local leisure centre and see if they can do it, but the payments go through to the local council rather than the leisure centre so I'm not sure if they could. And I haven't been able to go for a few weeks due to other commitments..

Are there any similar 'switch' services?

You need to contact the originator of the DD. In your case it seems like the council if they process your gym membership. If you have an online account you may be able to do it there, but if not the best way is to phone them. Tell them you want to change your bank account and give them the new details. They may send out a form to complete, but hopefully not.

Don't phone close to the due date, just after a month's payment has been taken is best.
