Options
Hey Guys

I need some advice

I sold my motorbike back on 26th October 2016 l, i sent off the yellow slip same day and today i have recieved a letter saying i owe the DVLA £100 for not insuring the vehicle.

I have seen it twice on gumtree and it is currently in a dealers in brighton who i have called and they claim they have the trade slip.

What can i do?

  • The DVLA don't charge you for not insuring a vehicle or if they do it's news to me. Are you sure it's from the DVLA?

askMID send out a letter first, which has the MIB and DVLA logos on it. The letter goes on to mention a fixed penalty notice from the DVLA - at least the one I saw did!
OP, I'd contact the DVLA and explain what you have received, they will be able to advise if you are still listed as the keeper.

If he wasn't they wouldn't write to him.

OP, the yellow slip clearly tells you that you should receive an acknowledgement within 4 weeks. Did you receive that?

If not, then you're still the keeper and should have phoned DVLA at that point.
