    It depends on the place you used the card at and when they authorise the payments. This used to happen to me about four years ago when I was 16/17 and joined HSBC. They gave me their under 18s card with the £100 daily withdrawal limit and certainly no overdraft facility whatsoever, and one day I ended up in negative £10. Yet if I'd have tried to purchase something with £0 in the account, it would have been blocked.

    It's just the way the shop authorises the payments, it probably didn't go through straight away
