Can I just ask the people who have got an upgrade, was your card up for renewal at the time, how long have you had the card and do you use it regularly? My card is due up in April and I'm just wondering if I'd get offered the gold one too, thanks

My card was not due for renewal until next year. I use it on a monthly basis, but have always paid the full balance and never had to pay any interest.

I've had the card about 5 years.

I have had my account 20 months with a £900 starting limit. I now have £4450 limit. Don't know what triggers an upgrade to gold card. I have always paid in full each month. Not even spending a lot on it each month. My current card is due up for renewal in 2018. I have only received a letter offering the upgrade. They said this will happen any time on or after march 20th 2017.
I came into this world with nothing and I'm gonna leave with nothing.

I haven't been offered a gold card but I did ring them to ask if I could be upgraded and was told that it's by selection only and if I'm selected they'll write to me.

Held aqua advance for about 5 years, limit is £7750, 19.9 APR, balance is about £50 from last week. I don't really use the card anymore but just put a bit of shopping on it every few months to keep the account active.

Was going to cancel it a while ago as have Natwest 5k, Halifax 5k, MBNA 4K, & Tesco's 2k but it my longest card so decided to keep it active for now ..... will see if an upgrade is offered at some point.

However there is still no evidence that the information about it in this thread is genuine particularly since the aqua Gold card was made available in 2015
Why do you not believe this? When various members have also said they have been upgraded? (Ignoring the fact that I have provided photographic evidence of the card and supporting documentation)

For example we don't know whether the Aqua Gold card is still available in 2016/17.
    Yes we do

But look on the bright side: I provided the evidence that Aqua Gold actually exists or at least existed that no-one else could provide. That's all I wanted!
Erm, I don't think you did, unless you are accessing this forum via means that don't show photos, I think you'll find that was me.

Lastly, I think that if I was an aquacard customer in 2015 who was not offered the Gold card I would be very peeved about it!
Ahhhh, it's all making sense now! Somebody is peeved because they haven't been offered an Aqua Gold Card. Hmmmm.

My letter was sent to me in November 2016 and quoted on or after January 17th 2017. My mobile app was upgraded on that date and the card arrived on 27th.

    Shouldn't you be in school?

Honestly! I have already posted that I closed my Aqua Advance card. So please tell me how I can possibly get one.

But that's the nature of bad credit and credit building cards: Most people move on to prime cards when the job is done. Only those who are possibly entrenched in bad credit or the re-building of their credit file is taking longer than usual will stay! Or to put it another way, anyone who can get a prime card and stays with a credit-building card is bonkers!

Much the same as I was when I closed my Aqua Advance card. In my case I was just too lazy to close it but then got around to it. The Aqua Gold card is only given to those "loyal customers" who are actively using their existing Aqua card. Those who have moved on to other, better cards are unlikely to get it. But then again, they don't need it.

    stating the obvious there....

You seem to be under the impression that all Aqua credit card holders have this card due to credit worthiness... If you were up on your finances like you claim, then you will remember five years ago, the Aqua card came out top for using whilst abroad, which was my only reason for getting it.

As I don't pay any interest, nor ever have done, switching to a more mainstream brand is of little use to me.

Hmmm ... let's see ... 35.9% APR. Armed with that knowledge you can probably answer that yourself.

Fees for using the card abroad:

Well, not too bad if that's all you can get.

There are those who will assign a certain status to travel cards. I think it goes without saying that for example American Express has a pretty high status whereas the status of an Aqua card is pretty low. I should think that those who regard status as important would not be seen dead with an Aqua card. Personally, certainly I would avoid wafting it anywhere near an airport lounge.

I'm not going to criticise those who have to get an Aqua card due to necessity because I did that. But we should recognise Aqua for what it is: It's a credit building credit card and due to tv advertising everyone knows that.
