Groupon Online Ticket Rights

I know what the terms and conditons say but doesn't mean they are always lawful!
Briefly, daughters friend booked via Groupon for a night out for a birthday bash for 6 of them to see a group. Unfortunately they clicked on Blackpool not Leeds as the venue! Yes their error! Not a change of mind as transport arrangements to Leeds already made. Realising the mistake they contacted Groupon who washed their hands of it and said no exchanges or refunds per terms and conditions. The girls are just looking to correct their mistake, ie tickets for Leeds not Blackpool. Not wanting money back. I thought that under distance selling TandCs there had to be a right to correct errors made in ordering. Any other ideas rather than forking out another £120. Very unlikely can resell Blackpool tickets and anyway that is against TandCs!

The distance selling regulations are now included in The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

Regulation 28 lists those circumstances where the right to cancel does not apply.
    That list includes:
    (h) the supply of accommodation, transport of goods, vehicle rental services, catering or services related to leisure activities, if the contract provides for a specific date or period of performance.
I would suggest that you have no right to cancel the purchase of those tickets.
  • Feared as much! Not actually looking to cancel or refund just to change venue chosen by genuine mistake . Great PR by Groupon, in marked contrast to other online companies who in my experience go well beyond their legal responsibilities

Groupon are entirely based around providing low prices and bargains, and as such their customer service is extremely limited.

Would it be easier to change the transport?
