New bedroom- any decent companies?

Hi,
We live in St Neots and we're after a firm that can give us a price without pressurising us into choosing them- We've heard scare stories from "watchdog" and the like showing scammers ripping people out of large sums of cash.
What we are asking is - has anyone in the St Neots/ Cambridgeshire region that's had a new bedroom fitted and have been pleased with the results? Were they friendly, and didn't pressure you into choosing them? were they helpful planning the bedroom?
We've always been a bit sceptical about companies that come into your house- I've always believed, that if their products are good enough, then we should go to them, not the other way round! :)

Depending on what you want the bedroom to look like, have you thought of Ikea?

They have 'design your own' program on their website and in store. Might be worth looking at their ranges and working out what YOU would like and getting an idea of cost before getting a company in. That way you'll know how much they are adding to their price for installation costs,

You cold find local tradesman to fit, if you chose an Ikea style.

Isn't a bedroom just a bare and nicely decorated room with bits of movable furniture in it?

    Ikea rocks for bedroom furniture.

You only need a lovely carpenter and they'll help you buy some extra bits and pieces that make it all feel properly fitted.

Or, I would use a joinery to make it from scratch, not companies like Sharps who will do exactly what a caroenter would do with Ikea stuff for much more money.

I am the opposite of you. If I want value for money, I fully expect that I will not be visiting a showroom.
